Dr Jonathan Pugh
Jonathan Pugh is Deputy Director of Public Philosophy at the Uehiro Oxford Institute, University of Oxford, and Theme Lead in Values and Society at Reuben College. His research and policy engagement focuses on applying philosophical research to complex institutional and policy decisions, with a particular focus on museum ethics, alongside topics in bioethics, public health ethics, and neuroethics.
He is currently the Principal Investigator on the Predictive Technologies, Ethics and the Future of Insurance project hosted by UOI, and he previously initiated and co-led the development of the Decision Aid for the Restitution of Cultural Artefacts (DARCA), an internationally relevant ethics decision aid supporting museums considering cultural restitution claims.
He was previously a member of the UK Pandemic Ethics Accelerator and the Parfit-Radcliffe Richards Fellow at the Uehiro Centre, and is the author of Autonomy, Rationality and Contemporary Bioethics (OUP, 2020). He supervises postgraduate research students across practical ethics.
